9-1-1 Director Jerry W. Jackson has served the District since 1988. In 1996 the Board of Commissioners appointed Mr. Jackson to the position of Director. Mr. Jackson is in charge of the daily operations of all departments within the 9-1-1 District. Mr. Jackson is dedicated to the citizens of Calhoun County and the Personnel of the 9-1-1 District, working daily to ensure that the agency strives for the most professional and courteous Emergency Service Communications system possible.
Mr. Jackson is a certified Emergency Number Professional through the National Emergency Number Association, and is an active member of the State of Alabama NENA Chapter.
9-1-1 Administrative Assistant Charlene Abernathy works with the Director to ensure all financial records, payroll, accounting and record keeping regulations are handled properly. Mrs. Abernathy arranges all information for board meetings and takes the lead in the application process when hiring new employees. Mrs. Abernathy works with the Director and all department heads to develop and implement budgets each year.
